Today, we pasted the groups' work on Picture Description all around the classroom. Each student was given two stars to vote for the best picture description based on the (1) description of the situation, (2) the feelings of the characters, (3) the personal opinion and (4) what will probably happen next.There was a gallery walk and everyone averaged about 6 stars. The group that won had 12 stars.
I wanted everyone to exercise their vote with integrity and practice democracy in their little way. They were allowed to vote for their own work but had to use their 2 stars to vote for two separate groups.
I was happy that everyone was co-operative and voted seriously. It was quite interesting to walk around. The activity was better prepared by putting a strip of double-sided tape on each group's majong paper and preparing small cut-out stars with a hand-held pattern punch.
